Arrived at BosLab to check on the liquid cultures and maybe streak them onto plates so we can select the most strongly colored ones.
Alas, the control tubes indicate contamination:
I checked the LB stock bottle I used to make my media. Looks like it's now cloudy also:
It may have already been contaminated when I opened it under laminar flow, or I may have accidentally contaminated it somehow. No matter, the solution is the same: dispose of it as biohazard, wash the bottle, and be ready to make more LB stock media for the lab this week.
The other cultures look OK though. I'm guessing they're useable, since the LB+chloro+DH5α control suggests the chloramphenicol is effective against the contaminant organism(s).
Too bad it is too late in the day for me to streak them onto plates. I'll come do that tomorrow.
I stored the tubes in the 4°C fridge.
